Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) or Intramuscular Therapy (IMT)
Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) is an evidence-based treatment approach to myofascial pain. It is a procedure in which a solid filament needle is inserted into the muscle to target and release tight, painful bands of muscle, which are called myofascial trigger points. Trigger points drive myofascial pain cycles, and prevent optimal function of the involved muscle.
Manual Therapy
The physical therapists at Fit Core PT have had extensive post-graduate training in various manual therapy techniques, including Neurodynamics for nerve tissue mobilization and treatment and Osteopathic Muscle Energy Technique for joint mobility restoration, amongst others.
Redcord Neurac Treatment ®
Redcord is a revolutionary apparatus, which involves a series of suspensions of ropes, bungies, and slings. It was developed in Norway in 1991 by a builder and former gymnast, Kare Mosberg, and then the official Redcord company was launched by a man name Petter Planke, who had himself been plagued by 20 years of back pain until he incorporated Redcord into his rehabilitation. The Redcord device has evolved over the years into a device that can be used to supplement rehabilitation techniques (Neurac Treatment), improve fitness (Redcord Active), and maximize performance (Redcord Sport). “Neurac” is an abbreviation for Neuromuscular Activation, and was developed as a concept in 2004 by a Norweigan physiotherapist, Gitle Kirksola. The Neurac Method is a unique, evidence-based, treatment approach which utilizes the Redcord sling system to identify and systematically and gradually treat dysfunctions and muscular imbalances in the body’s muscular kinetic chains, termed “Weak Links.” This ultimately reduces the strain on overworked or overloaded muscles, and there is often immediate pain relief and restoration of functional movement.
Rehabilitation Pilates Method
The physical therapists at Fit Core PT have been Pilates Certified through the Polestar Pilates program, in addition to the Pilates Method Alliance. The Polestar program of Pilates certification emphasizes more of a rehabilitation-based approach to Pilates, and serves as a solid foundation from which patients can then transition to a more fitness-based form of Pilates or exercise.
Functional Movement Analysis
The Functional Movement Screen is a grading system that assesses a series of movement patterns that are pertinent to normal healthy function. The FMS identifies movement asymmetries and imbalances, which ultimately interfere with an individual’s ability to perform safely and optimally, and likely predispose them to injury. The Selective Functional Movement Assessment is a clinical assessment of 7 fundamental movement patterns in individuals with known musculoskeletal pain. This assessment tool helps clinicians identify causes of pain or dysfunction in the body and helps to classify the cause as either a mobility problem or a stability/motor control deficit. This allows for a more targeted approach to treatment interventions and applications.
